What the petition asks
Protect parents/carers of children with a registered disability, against fines.Fines from council schools and academy trusts, for taking their child out of school for a holiday/Break in term time when it’s in the child’s best interest.Disability must be recognised as exceptional circumstances
We as a community who care for children with disabilities face everyday challenges. Holidays and breaks can be enormously challenging. Taking our children in low season proves to be more manageable and less stressful for a child that struggles with sensory and social issues. Avoiding the busy holiday period makes a holiday more manageable for families and children living with a disability. Families are being fined and taken to court for putting their child with a disability first and this is wrong.
