Retain the UK's stockpile of Plutonium and make more

What the petition asks
I want the government to retain the current stockpile of plutonium and ensure it is used to fuel nuclear power stations in future. I think that to bury it now might save storage costs short term, but it would no longer be available for future use.
Plutonium is made from Uranium 238 in nuclear reactors. It is itself, a fuel to produce more power. I think that if the UK's stock of existing spent fuel rods were processed to make more Plutonium, it could power future reactors and we would have enough power to supply the UK for generations to come.
