What the petition asks
For DWP to change the rules on paying only one ex partner the child element and other benefits and reform the rules
One partner of divorced parents are adversely affected by the outdated and unjust system of Universal Credit allocation of child tax credit payments for separated or divorced parents. leaving the ex partner who cannot claim in a precarious financial situation as the system also assumes the partner who is not the claimant can work and excludes them from claiming any other Universal credit payments as only one partner can claim
