Petition

Allow Local Council Elections to go ahead.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Ensure that all elections proceed as required by law and no future suspensions occur without parliamentary approval. The Representation of the People Act 1983 mandates regular elections, and deviation without statutory authority is unconstitutional and unlawful
Democracy depends on regular, fair elections. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our democratic system, protected by the Representation of the People Act 1983 and human rights law.
Unlawful election suspensions violate the democratic rights of UK citizens. The government must not interfere with elections without explicit statutory authority. Parliament must act to prevent any government from unlawfully delaying elections in the future and ensure that democratic processes are upheld.
