Hold Gig Economy Delivery companies accountable for ensuring legal road use

Closed 116 signatures

What the petition asks

We urge Parliament to make it a legal duty for food delivery platforms to make sure riders are not using illegal e-bikes, riding on pavements, and ignoring traffic laws. Companies must verify compliance, share rider data with police, and face penalties for failing to act.
We believe some gig economy delivery riders could be using illegally modified e-bikes that exceed legal speed limits, potentially endangering pedestrians and road users. Beyond this, some could be breaking traffic laws—riding on pavements, ignoring red lights, using one-way streets illegally, & cycling in pedestrian-only areas. We think Parliament should act to hold delivery platforms accountable & ensure compliance with UK laws.
