Reduce Government Spending on Consultancies

What the petition asks
Reduce government spending on private consultants, which has risen 57% in the past five years, costing taxpayers £3.4 BN in 2024. Prioritise in-house expertise, enforce spending caps, and require full transparency on all consultancy contracts to ensure value for money.
We think Government departments rely too heavily on costly external consultants, even for tasks civil servants could do. Reports show some contracts charge £3,000+ per day per consultant, draining public funds while frontline services face cuts. By capping consultant fees and boosting in-house skills, we think we could save billions and reinvest in the NHS, education, and infrastructure.
