Petition
EU WORKING VISA for uk citizens for contractors/self employed
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
EU work visa that UK offshore workers can apply for without employer sponsorship. The existing visa routes require either a job offer or high-level qualifications, making it difficult for UK offshore workers, self-employed contractors, or temporary workers to access legal employment in the EU
Simplified Self-Employed or Contractor Visa with EU or individual countries or introduce a freelancer/contractor visa that does not require a sponsor. This could work similarly to digital nomad visas but would allow short-term work in regulated industries for offshore workers
UK and EU could negotiate a sector-specific agreement for offshore workers, allowing temporary work permits

Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about EU visas are a matter for the EU and individual countries, not the UK Government or Parliament.
