Petition

Rescind Art 2 of the ECHR to protect NI Veterans from vexatious prosecutions.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Art 2 of the ECHR is continually exploited in N Ireland to instigate Inquiries and Inquests for historic incidents relying on “evidence” the veracity of which cannot be reliably substantiated.
It is wrong to investigate Veterans in respect of historic incidents that were the subject of contemporaneous investigations, with due consideration to the prevailing security situation and terrorist activity.
The passage of time erodes memories, many of the Veterans being investigated are both ageing and ailing men, who served their Country.
The worry and stress that those under investigations and their families have been subjected to is immoral and cruel, and must be halted forthwith.
