Delay introducing Making Tax Digital until more support for the Self-Employed

What the petition asks
We ask the Government to delay Making Tax Digital for the self-employed until free software is provided, clear public guidance is given, and fair exemptions are in place for those with low income, poor digital access, or limited IT skills.
From 2026, self-employed people must submit quarterly tax returns using commercial software. We think this creates unfair costs and pressure, especially for low earners and those with limited digital access. We think many are unaware of the changes. We think the system is rushed, unclear, and risks harming small businesses.
