Establish an Independent Review of NHS Extraction-Based Orthodontics

Closed 95 signatures

What the petition asks

We call on the Department of Health and Social Care to commission an independent review of any potential long-term health effects of extraction-based orthodontic treatment provided through the NHS, and to review clinical guidelines and consent protocols related to such treatment
Extraction of teeth can be part of orthodontic treatment. Some research has suggested links between this and the risk of long-term health effects.

We request a formal, independent investigation into the long-term health outcomes of NHS-funded extraction-based orthodontics, including a national patient registry and longitudinal study.
