Petition
Don't penalise families for their desire to live together

What the petition asks
Families already living in the UK on a temporary residency permit that have followed the rules and met all the requirements should be permitted to continue on the 5 year route to settled status instead of forcing us to continue for a further 5 years.
I am a British Citizen living in the UK with my wife who is an Ecuadorian National and our 2 children, both of whom are British Citizens. We have approximately 18 months before we are eligible to apply for permanent leave to remain for my wife. The recent announcement that the government will change the route from 5 to 10 years means that rather than be nearing the end of a lengthy, stressful and costly process, we will effectively be back at the start. This is devastating for myself and my family.
