Abolish Section 21 'no-fault' evictions with immediate effect

What the petition asks
We believe that despite repeated Government pledges to abolish Section 21, delays have left millions of tenants vulnerable. Landlords can give a Section 21 notice to evict tenants with just two months’ notice. We think it can often be in retaliation for requesting repairs or asserting legal rights.
We call on the Government to speed up the passage of legislation and abolish Section 21 of the Housing Act 1988 now. It allows landlords to evict tenants without any fault from the tenant. We think this practice is outdated, unjust, incompatible with a fair housing system, and that it causes housing insecurity, unfair displacement, and retaliatory evictions. In our view, the Renters Reform Bill has been delayed for too long and Parliament must take immediate action to protect renters by terminating Section 21 now.
