Petition
Enshrine into law that the NHS cannot be privatised
Rejected
17 signatures
What the petition asks
We wish for a law to be created that prevents the NHS from being privatised by future governments.
It is possible that future governments may make the choice to privatise the NHS and possibly move to a private model, like is seen in the USA, where a routine operation can cost thousands of dollars and routine prescriptions can often times be prohibitively costly to the patient as well. We see the NHS as a national institution and wish for it to be protected from privatisation, both now and in the future as well.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
The role of the NHS is set out in legislation already. If you would like changes to this, you could start a new petition about that.
