Ban button batteries from children’s toys

What the petition asks
We think that all button batteries should be banned from being used in children’s toys to prevent fatal and tragic accidents due to them being ingested.
We trust that toys made for children are safe for them. But button batteries can be deadly, so we think they must be banned from these items.
Button batteries are extremely dangerous if ingested by children and currently they are not banned from children’s toys. While regulations state they must be secured, such as with screws, we do not think this is enough. Toys can be broken, giving children access to the batteries, or the compartments may not be replaced correctly due to human error, leaving the batteries easily accessible when the toy is handed back to the child. We feel that too many accidents can occur without a ban on using them in children’s toys.
