Automatic rail fare cap, flexible season tickets & require smart ticketing

What the petition asks
We believe current rail ticketing is outdated and penalises commuters with irregular travel patterns. Some Flexi Season tickets must be bought in advance, with no refunds if it is unused. Many commuters now travel 4–15 days a month and we believe existing options are too rigid or too expensive.
We call for the following changes:
- Introduce an automatic fare capping system for rail operators like TfL’s model.
- Develop season tickets or smartcard-based systems that apply discounts based on actual travel between fixed origin-destination pairs.
- Require rail operators support smart ticketing that rewards loyalty and flexibility fairly.
