What the petition asks
Many bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters (B,EB,ES) in British cities are hired.
These vehicles have been given extended rights and privileges, such as exclusive cycle lanes and superhighways to ensure they can ride safely.
These vehicles have been given extended rights and privileges, such as exclusive cycle lanes and superhighways to ensure they can ride safely.
However, we think some users are not complying with road laws.
Motorists, being in charge of more potentially dangerous vehicles, follow stringent training and rules set down in the Highway Code. CCTV and recording equipment is situated on roads to ensure compliance.
We think some users of B,EB,ES are not following road laws, making streets extremely dangerous for the most vulnerable of people - pedestrians, and for themselves. We think trackers in B,EB,ES with sensors in traffic lights, would catch those not complying, allowing for timed suspensions from hiring
