Petition

Internal and external swabbing for postpartum women presenting with infection

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

I would like the government to approve my act PIPA - The Postpartum Infection Prevention Act. This is "To mandate internal and external swabbing for all postpartum women presenting with a vaginal birth-related suture/tear or infection."
To prevent misdiagnosis, recurring infections, potential impacts on future fertility, and life-threatening invasive infections such as Strep A, toxic shock syndrome, or sepsis, implement a mandatory dual-site swabbing protocol (internal and external) for all postpartum patients presenting with suspected suture/tear infections following vaginal delivery.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the care of postpartum women are a matter for the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.
