Petition
Change the standard method for assessing local housing need to reflect real need
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
The NPPF insists on a method to calculate housing need that is not fit for purpose. It appears designed just to result in a target housing number in any given area that does not reflect the true, real need based on tangible issues such as population, demographics, etc.
Planning is being negatively impacted by this standard method of calculation. This can lead to the wrong level of development in particular areas. Local areas know better than a formula what their local needs actually are.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
