Petition
Regulate drones under 250g to protect privacy and prevent misuse
Rejected
9 signatures
What the petition asks
Introduce legislation requiring all drones under 250g with cameras to be registered and subject to the same privacy, safety, and misuse laws as larger drones. This includes flight restrictions, penalties for harassment, and protection for private property.
Lightweight drones are being misused to spy on people, invade private spaces, and fly over homes without consent. Current laws don’t cover these smaller drones properly, putting the public’s privacy and safety at risk. The law must close this loophole.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Drones with a camera that weigh less than 250g are already subject to regulations that require the user to register for an Operator ID. You can find more information about registration requirements here: https://www.caa.co.uk/drones/getting-started-with-drones-and-model-aircraft/registering-to-fly-drones-and-model-aircraft/
