Regulate the use of brain-computer interfaces

What the petition asks
We ask the UK Government to introduce urgent legal safeguards to the use of brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), neural interfaces, or related neurotechnologies on individuals.
There are currently no regulations on the use of BCI systems — which may be capable of influencing, recording, or interpreting brain activity. Without clear legislation, we think individuals are vulnerable to potential misuse by both private and state actors.
This includes concerns about potential covert experimentation, neural surveillance, or unauthorised cognitive data access— all of which, we believe, could raise serious ethical and human rights implications.
