Change law to treat police dog deaths as equivalent to deaths of police officers

What the petition asks
We want parliament to change the law so that if a police or service dog dies as a result of a criminal or reckless behaviour, the offender(s) can be charged and sentenced as if a police officer had died under similar circumstances.
We believe the loss of a service dog should not be treated as mere damage to property or an animal welfare matter.
We believe the law should recognise the service and sacrifice of police dogs and ensure their deaths in line of duty - whether by deliberate violence or reckless harm - carry meaningful consequences.
