Petition

Stop the Government allowing 16 and 17 year olds to vote in a general election.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Stop changing the election law to allow under 18 year olds to vote and leave the voting age as it is.
A person under the age of 18 is not allowed to enter into a legally binding contract. Votes cast by British people choose and bind the British to an elected government.
Under 18's are not fully accountable to their actions in law. The law acknowledges that they are not fully capable of understanding the consequences of their actions or making informed decisions to the same extent as adults.
Cant do Jury Service, play lottery, buy tobacco, alcohol, get married, travel or have a bank account etc.
