What the petition asks
We ask Parliament to ensure Guernsey residents have access to UK ombudsman services or equivalent oversight. The UK must uphold its duty to ensure accountability, protect rights, and guarantee good governance in Crown Dependencies like Guernsey.
Guernsey residents have no access to an independent public services ombudsman. This leaves serious complaints—such as in mental health care. safeguarding or policing unresolved and unaccountable. We call on the UK government to ensure Guernsey residents have access to UK ombudsman services or equivalent external oversight, and to uphold its duty to guarantee good governance in Crown Dependencies.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
Decisions about creating ombudsman services in Guernsey is a decision for the Government of Guernsey, not the UK Government or Parliament.
