Petition

Monday to Friday 40 hour week 8 hour shifts, all overtime to be tax free.

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the UK Government to introduce legislation that exempts overtime income from income tax. Specifically, we propose that:

All hours worked beyond the standard 40-hour working week (Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day), as well as all hours worked on weekends, should be exempt from income tax.
In today’s economic climate, many hardworking individuals are taking on additional hours just to meet rising living costs. These extra hours represent personal sacrifice—time away from family, rest, and personal wellbeing. Yet, the current tax system does not distinguish between regular and overtime income.

Recognise and reward hard work by making overtime income tax-free.
Support working families who rely on overtime to bridge the gap between wages and the cost of living.
