What the petition asks
To shorten the summer holiday to 4 weeks instead of 6 weeks. Then add an additional week to the February half term and an additional week in the October half term, making them 2 weeks instead of 1 week.
I’ve done a lot of research into this, and it would benefit the children, parents and educational professionals too. The summer holiday are to long for children to be out of education for. It also affects them going back to school after the holidays, they take longer and find it harder to settle back into a routine, which is harder for educational professionals to deal with. Also it’s harder for parents to find childcare whilst they work, being such a long holiday. Creating a stressful situation
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
