Create a benefit for stay at home parents with children of preschool age

What the petition asks
Stay at home mums and dads are often expected to return to work within a year of having a child. We think that is not enough time for a mother’s body/mind to heal and costs of childcare makes working pointless. We think a child should be with their parents at such a crucial age.
Raise income support by creating a benefit for stay at home parents.
Many people are struggling to pay their rent which means more people are appealing for council housing. We think creating a home maker benefit for stay at home parents would mean more people could afford private renting/mortgages and council housing could then be used for people who are in desperate need and homeless.
