Petition
Ban sitting MPs from changing party.

What the petition asks
Ban sitting MPs from changing party, and instead require them to stand down so that they can compete for their new chosen party in a bi-election.
Despite MPs being representatives of their constituents, most people vote for a Party rather than for an individual to represent them. As such it is completely unreasonable for an MP elected for one party to subsequently switch to another without going back for the support of their constituents.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
You may wish to sign this petition which calls for a similar action: By-elections to be called automatically when MPs defect to another party
