Review and reform UK allergy laws & labelling standards for milk allergies

Closed 34 signatures

What the petition asks

I am concerned about UK supermarket labels that use small 'may contain' warnings, which I feel makes safe choices difficult. We urge the Government to review and reform current laws and standards on allergy labelling to better protect allergy sufferers.
Our proposals are:
1) Require all allergen information (including “may contain”) to be displayed in a bold, visible, and prominent manner on packaging.
2) Require standardised wording and placement for allergen warnings across all supermarket products.
3) Fund education for manufacturers and retailers on the importance of clear allergen labelling.
4) Introduce legal and financial penalties on non-compliance to ensure consistent and truthful labelling.
