Petition
Stop Labour from lowering the voting age to 16
Rejected

What the petition asks
I want to prevent the Labour party from allowing 16 and 17 year olds to have the right to vote.
Since the COVID pandemic, statistics show the GCSE outcomes across Maths and English language, for 16 year old, at grade 4/C (Standard Pass) is steadily declining with just under 1/3 of the country failing.
If 16 and 17 year olds were allowed to vote, they’d be ~2.9% of the electorate—enough to have swung the EU referendum. With these huge ramifications in mind we should strongly reconsider if 16 year and 17 year olds of this country grasp the basic fundamentals and political knowledge to vote.
