What the petition asks
I want the Government to support primary caregivers with true flexibility: 10am to 2pm hours, remote roles, and term-time contracts that align with school schedules. This would ease childcare pressure, protect family wellbeing, promote fair access to work for parents. No more of Income or presence?
Children attend school 30 hrs/week with 12 weeks of holidays, yet full-time work demands 35–45 hrs and offers just 20–25 days leave. This forces caregivers to choose between income and presence. We urge government to support term-time contracts, flexible hours, remote work, and childcare stipends—especially for face-to-face roles—to protect family bonds, mental health, and equity for working parents.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. It is not clear what kind of support you would like to see, or where this support should be directed. Contracted hours, and the option for flexible working, are the responsibility of individual employers.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
