Issue formal "letters of comfort" to all 250,000 UK servicemen/women who served in Northern Ireland during Operation BANNER (1969-2007), providing the same legal protections from historical prosecution that were given to terrorist suspects through "on-the-run" letters.

Veterans who served lawfully in Northern Ireland face ongoing threat of prosecution for actions taken decades ago, while terrorist suspects received "on-the-run" letters protecting them from prosecution. This disparity is morally unjust. Our 250,000 veterans answered their country's call during Britain's longest military deployment, losing 1,441 lives. They deserve protection, not persecution. Yesterday's heroes shouldn't be today's defendants.
