Petition

Enforce illegal migration laws & require a confidence vote if targets are unmet

Rejected 14 signatures

What the petition asks

Enforce existing illegal migration laws, publish accurate quarterly data on arrivals and removals, and commit to annual enforcement targets. If targets are missed, Parliament must hold a confidence vote or debate a general election.
We saw 44,000+ irregular arrivals in the year to March 2025, up 22 %. Thousands of refused asylum applicants remain in the country. We call for full enforcement of the Illegal Migration Act 2023, transparent reporting, and a mechanism for Parliament to act when government fails to meet its targets. As Magna Carta affirmed in 1215, government must act under the law. We ask that illegal migration laws be enforced transparently and that Parliament hold government to account when targets are missed

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you mean by "enforce existing illegal migration laws".

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

In addition, we can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes calling for a vote of no confidence.
