Petition
Strengthen Laws on Sexual Crimes and Abolish Plea Deals in Child Sexual Offences
Rejected
17 signatures
What the petition asks
We urge the Government to toughen laws on sexual crimes, abolish plea deals in child sexual offences, strengthen sentencing, and ensure victims receive justice, protection and support throughout the legal process.
Current laws on sexual crimes often fail to deter offenders or reflect the lifelong harm caused to victims. Survivors, especially children, are left feeling unprotected and unheard. By strengthening sentencing and ending plea deals in child sexual offences, we can improve justice, protect the vulnerable and rebuild public trust in the legal system.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
We think this petition is very similar to yours:
Ban plea deals in serious sexual offence cases against children & the vulnerable: Ban plea deals in serious sexual offence cases against children & the vulnerable
We could accept a petition calling for sentences for certain offences to be increased, if that's also something that you'd like to see.
