Petition

Compulsory plastic card ID for all UK residents

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Adopt the same procedures that over 70% of countries in the world use for compulsory plastic card IDs and make carrying them mandatory.

Make it clear that having such an ID card is not a pathway to citizenship.

No to digital IDs or electronic IDs and yes to a plastic card.
We need to make sure that we can prove who we are and where we reside at all times and especially during emergencies.

Proper records of who is here in the UK, where they work (or don’t work) would be a boon for statistical purposes and do away with the need for a Population Census in future.

This would save billions which could be used instead by the Government and Statisticians to bring the UK into the 21st Century by providing up to date services in each region of the UK.
