Ban Open-Source Deepfake-Capable AI tools until further regulation is introduced

What the petition asks
We call on the UK Government to ban open-source AI video generation models that create realistic synthetic videos, until further regulations are in place. We urge licensing, oversight and coordination with our partners, to control risks and prevent harmful applications.
We believe models available without licensing or guardrails, could pose serious threats to:
• National security (deepfake propaganda, surveillance, data harvesting, bias and disinformation)
• Personal safety (harassment, impersonation, non-consensual imagery, cyberbullying, identity abuse, criminal and terrorist use, fraud)
• Public trust (erosion of video credibility and news integrity, ‘Reality Decay’, Information overload)
Let's lead by example and help protect Reality!
