Review bailiff fees and enforcement processes

Closed 57 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the Government to review the fees that High Court Enforcement Agents and bailiffs can charge. We believe excessive fees can risk pushing people deeper into debt instead of helping them recover, and that laws should aim to ensure fair, transparent, and affordable debt recovery for everyone.
Excessive bailiff and enforcement fees can trap people in debt instead of helping them resolve it. Many already face financial hardship, and these added costs only make recovery harder. A review is needed to create a fairer, more compassionate system that supports people, not punish them. The review should also consider whether bailiffs should be required to accent any payment plan offered, instead of demanding lump sums and adding huge fees.
