Petition
Raise the UK national terror threat level to Severe, issue new security guidance
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Raise the UK national terror threat level to Severe in response to recent attacks, and issue updated security guidance for the public and for locations that may be at higher risk.
Recent violent incidents in Manchester and London have increased public concern regarding the risk of further attacks. Raising the national threat level and providing updated security guidance would support preparedness and assist communities, local authorities and at-risk locations in planning appropriate protective measures. Clear information would help improve public awareness and strengthen national resilience.
Why it was rejected
It was about an operational decision of a public body, which petitions cannot cover.
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) is responsible for setting the threat level for the UK from terrorism, and the threat level from Northern Ireland Related Terrorism in Northern Ireland.
