Petition
Include information about congenital CMV in all NHS antenatal booking packs
Rejected
15 signatures
What the petition asks
We want the Government to ensure that every pregnant woman in the UK receives information about congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) in their antenatal booking pack. This should include simple prevention advice and clear guidance on risks and symptoms.
Congenital CMV is the most common infectious cause of birth defects and disabilities in the UK, but most parents have never heard of it. Simple hygiene measures can cut risk, yet families often only learn about CMV after diagnosis. Including CMV information in booking packs could prevent avoidable harm.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
This is not something which the UK Government or Parliament is directly responsible for, but something which is done by individual NHS trusts.
