Cap the price of pregnancy ultrasound scans in private clinics

What the petition asks
We believe private pregnancy ultrasound clinics are taking advantage of low NHS availability by charging extortionate amounts for ultrasounds. We have heard that some women are paying upwards to £100 to confirm their pregnancy is viable. There should be a cap on what private clinics can charge.
Miscarriage is an unfortunate common occurrence amongst mums to be, and whilst there is no evidence that additional scans to the ones the NHS provide change the outcomes of pregnancy, private scans can provide reassurance to those who have suffered previous miscarriages, missed miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. Additional scans, such as those done in private can also save the lives of women who have asymptomatic ectopic pregnancies only discovered via the additional scan.
