Petition
Support Lord Amendments in the Planning & Infrastructure Bill
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Support amendments 38 and 40 (at time of writing 14/11/25). These are to protect chalk streams and for EDPs to be solely for issues such as nutrient neutrality, water use & pollution & air pollution - NOT protected species & habitats.
We want our politicians to listen to the science and the professionals. There is no sound evidence that protected, site loyal species, and habitats (which take centuries to establish), can have conservation status maintained through EDPs. Current proposed safeguards are not enough and the bill in its current form is high risk. Without supporting the amendments, the government are wilfully allowing the degradation of environmental legislation.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
Unfortunately we weren't able to reach your petition until the Bill in question had proceeded to Royal Assent, due to the current volume of petitions being submitted.
Do please consider submitting a new petition, perhaps asking for the repeal of the provisions in question.
