Petition

Grandfathering and transition so new ILR rules don’t affect current ILR routes.

Rejected 9 signatures

What the petition asks

Introduce grandfathering and transition routes so the new 10-year ILR rule does NOT apply to people already in the UK on legal 5-year ILR pathways. Apply new rules only to those arriving or applying after 2026. Protect existing applicants.
People followed the law, paid taxes, and planned their lives on the 5-year ILR system. Changing rules midway is unfair and creates hardship. If the Government wants to restrict benefits for new migrants, they can, but those already on 5-year routes should be protected. Grandfathering ensures fairness and stability.
