Petition
Do not scrap trial by jury
Rejected

What the petition asks
The government has announced plans to scrap trial by jury for alleged crimes that carry a likely sentence of less than three years. I believe this is fundamentally wrong and that the government should not have the power to do so.
Trial by jury is a cornerstone of the British legal system to remove this would be fundamentally wrong. Removing the right to a trial by jury is a step towards authoritarianism and leave the legal system open to huge corruption. This must be stopped and the Justice Secretary should resign.
