Petition

Keep University of essex southend campus open

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

I want the government to work with the university and local authorities to secure funding and support to keep Southend Campus open, includes exploring alternative financial solutions, protecting current students access to education, and ensuring the long-term future of higher education in Southend.
The government should act to keep Southend University Campus open because its closure would harm students, staff, and the local community. The campus provides accessible education for people who cannot relocate, supports local jobs and businesses, and reduces regional inequality. Closing it would disrupt current students and weaken Southend’s economic and social development.

Why it was rejected

It was about a matter for a local council or devolved government, not the UK Government or Parliament.
