Make First Aid Education Compulsory for All Secondary School Students

What the petition asks

We call on the UK Government to introduce compulsory first aid training into the secondary school curriculum.

Young people are often the first on scene during emergencies and early action can save lives. Teaching essential skills such as recognising life threatening injuries, controlling bleeding, placing someone in the recovery position and performing basic CPR will give them the confidence and ability to act quickly.

First aid is a vital life skill. It empowers young people, reduces preventable deaths and strengthens our communities.

Why it was rejected

The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.

First aid training is already part of the health curriculum for schools, which you can see on page 37 + 38 of the curriculum guidance here:
