Amend the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Act for rescued pets

What the petition asks
The Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Act 2025 restricts the importing of mutilated animals into the UK.
We believe that, with the best intentions, the Act is flawed and will prevent owners of rescued pets with previously docked tails from taking their pet to visit family in the UK. Or even preventing pets returning from holiday.
We think the act is unfair in the extreme to adopting pet owners who have done nothing more than rescue a badly treated animal to provide a caring & loving home. An amendment is required to exempt pets that have been rescued following mutilation.
