Ban banks from denying service to sex workers because of their work
Open for signatures
1,589 signatures
What the petition asks
Many sex workers are being denied banking services, including account closures and mortgage refusals, because their lawful work is labelled “high risk". Other sectors considered "high risk", such as gambling, have managed to negotiate terms for banking. Why should the sex industry be any different?
Online webcam work and adult content creation is legal. We call on the Government to prevent banks from discriminating against sex workers and to ensure access to financial services based on individual circumstances, not lawful occupation. People engaged in legal work should not be denied access to essential financial services. Financial discrimination against sex workers undermines equality, safety, and financial inclusion.
