What the petition asks
a new railway line to Newport,Ventor,Cowes and/or Freshwater.
The Isle of Wight hasn't had a strong railway connection across the island since 1966 and a new line(s) would help decrease traffic and pollution, it would also help with bus times as right now it takes over a hour and a half to get to Freshwater from shanklin but with a new line it could remove up to half of the travel time
Why it was rejected
It was about a matter for a local council or devolved government, not the UK Government or Parliament.
We are not allowed to accept petitions that deal only with a local area, even when there may be some involvement from central government in respect of decision-making or funding.
