Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
You can read the the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency's (DVSA) plan to reduce driving test waiting times here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/dvsa-sets-out-plan-to-reduce-driving-test-waiting-times It includes a new requirement that learners must give 10 full working days’ notice to change or cancel their test without losing the fee. It also includes the recruitment and training of 450 new driving examiners.
In November 2025, the Government announced that military driving examiners will help deliver up to 6,500 more tests: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mirror-signal-manoeuvres-military-driving-examiners-mobilised-to-cut-test-backlog
The DVSA expects to achieve a seven-week waiting time for driving tests by November 2027: https://www.nao.org.uk/press-releases/watchdog-urges-dvsa-to-address-driving-test-delay-backlog-and-cut-waiting-times/
If there are additional measures you would like the Government or Parliament to take to reduce driving test waiting times, you could start a petition asking for that.
