What the petition asks
We call on the government to dissolve the Office of the Children’s Commissioner. We think it is not independent enough from government and risks becoming politicised.
We also disagree with its promotion of the vision of children’s rights reflected in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). We think it is a threat to private and family life.
We believe there are two visions for our children's future: one respects the family, protecting its integrity, privacy, and freedom. The other, in our view, undermines it, believing that the state should direct the formation of our sons and daughters and the character of family life through global mechanisms such as the UNCRC. We reject this agenda and call for the abolition of the Office of the Children’s Commissioner.
