What the petition asks
The EU recently formalised its Plastic Pellet Loss Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2025/2365), which mandates risk management plans and independent audits for large handlers. We want the UK to follow suit with its own equivalent law.
The EU recently formalised Regulation (EU) 2025/2365, which mandates risk management plans and independent audits for large handlers of plastic pellets. UK NGOs and the Scottish Government have called for similar binding legislation in the UK.
Nurdles (3-5mm plastic pellets) are raw materials for nearly all plastic products. A major source of microplastic pollution, estimated up to 445,000 tonnes spill into the natural environment per year during transport or manufacturing, a large proportion of which ends up in the seas and oceans, causing severe harm to marine life.
